2013 Wrap up

I was going through all my posts and realised that 2013 has been a very quiet year for me.

I have had a lot going on in my home life and this has meant I have been a bit distracted for a good portion (read most) of the year.  It's really only these last two or three months that I finally got my sewjo going.

So the year that started with me getting my own sewing room has not really included a whole lot of sewing.

Small projects, I achieved two things -

In January I whipped up a needlebook as part of Rachel's Handstitched Class.
Needlebook

and after that I did nothing at all until September when a finished up my owl crosstitch

I finished two quilt tops.  Not "quilts" but I'm counting this as a win.

In October I whipped together the Carpenters Wheel

And, of course, in November I finally finished my fabulous Swoon.

I also made one pieced quilt back and a couple of Santa Sacks...

But that's it.  That's a year of my life.  I had such plans, but it clearly didn't work out as planned.

But you should see my list for 2014 :-)

  1. Erin, I love reading your blog. It just seems to ooze life and enthusiasm - even when your sewjo is taking a bit of a backseat for awhile. Best wishes for a wonderful and sew-full new year!!

    1. LMAO!!! That's a bit of an overstatement!!!! Thank you though, I'll definitely take it ;-)
As long as we're having fun who cares what we're making or how much of it there is.
      Looking forward to 2014.

  3. Gah. Like I moron, I just skipped away from this post where I was writing a comment, so that I could doublecheck something even though I was 95% certain I wasn't full of crap. Damn it.

Anyway, I was saying that most of my favourite blogs are the ones where people just kind of finish things here and there and maybe start some more things and talk about their lives or whatever, more so than the ones where the year end wrap up is like "I finished 32 quilts this year, which is 4 fewer than last year. What did I do with my time?" because I can barely manage to scrap out a couple hours here and there and I've got practically no demands on my life (other than a 40ish hour work week and transit time).

I think your needlecase is pretty magnificent, and your Swoon is obviously incredibly beautiful. Also, I love that you used brown because so many quilters hate brown and I love it (and yet never seem to use it!).

    1. :-D We've all done that, at some point. I'm impressed that you came back to right it all again. I usually consider it the universe telling me to be quiet and stop jabbering so either significantly reduce my comment, or don't leave one at all.

thank you. I have spent the morning looking at the amazing mosaics that people are putting together to show off their year and feeling like a bit of a bloggy fraud, so I'm glad my lack or results and lackadaisical style suit you :-D

I am not a big brown fan, but when I was pulling colours for the Swoon, I found that lovely bright teal-ly blue and it just worked so well with brown that before I knew it my cart was full. I almost went with a green and I'm so glad I didn't. (also I like that you call it incredible *blush)

  5. Fortunately it's not a competition or a race, so you made just as much this year as you needed to. :D I really love that owl cross stitch and of course your swoon! BTW, how's your modern medallion quilt going? :)

    1. You're so sweet. Funny you should ask, as I literally just hit publish on an update to the medallion! The short story is, it's going slooooooowly. But it is on my top three projects for January.
