Skill Builder colour choices
Ok. I have attacked palette builder ( you should check it out if you haven't already. It's AMAZING!) and have a selection of colour schemes that might work for the Pile'o'fabric shill builder.
Remember that we're trying to make this:
(yes, I really do just want to replicate those colours, but i feel this would be cheating... But if you give me permission, I so would. I love the way this bursts with energy)
So here are our options so far:
NB I did not take these photos they are all from google or pintrest or somewhere and i just colour palette'd them
1 -
Yes, it's very similar to the original. But I love the vibrancy of the original so this would end up as my version... Kind of.
2 -
Probably using the grey/purple, the pink and the blue with a creamy background. Would hopefully end up feeling soft and feminine. I really like these colours, but the design is quite linear and sharp, so I don't know that it's the right match.
3 -
Black as the background (or maybe white, or maybe the light brown!). Using the orange, pink and white as the focus colours.
4 -
Super dark green as the background. Using the burgundy, orange and blues as the focus colours. I think I like this one the best
But the point is, I can't decide!! And I really, really need to purchase some fabric and get on with this! I want my quilt!!!
So now it's up to you. Voting is open. What should I do??? Choose wisely, or you may end up receiving an ugly quilt in the mail as a thank you present :-)

Again, very similar to the original. Black as the background. Using the orange, pink and purple as the focus colours, maybe also some of the cream.

Oh man, I love #2, although you should keep that pop of teal in there, it's gorgeous!! But really these are all gorgeous palettes. :D I'm glad you are liking the palette builder! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
ReplyDeleteBut really, there's no reason you can't just replicate the original colors!! If you love it, GO FOR IT.
Hrm I looked again and I love #4 too.
ReplyDeleteIf I keep looking you may not get any useful data from me as I fall in love with each one! lol
NUMBER 2!!!! Sooo very pretty.
ReplyDeleteNumber two is pretty, but I think number four will provide more energy.
ReplyDeleteOh just copy the original! Love all the palettes you made though, so I don't think you could go wrong with any of them!
ReplyDelete5 and 2 are my favourites, so glad you joining in too and looking forward to seeing what you go with :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh great work, such lovely palets to choose from! Which one makes your heart sing the most?? That's the one to go for!!
ReplyDeleteHi Erin! The colours in 1 are what I've just been working with - I find that palette quite challenging. My favourites are 2 and 4. 2 is a more pastel version of 4, I think!
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for a Liebster Award. It's for small or new blogs that are really lovely and inspirational! You get to pass the award on in turn to other blogs you love :)
You can read more about it here at my blog:

2 then 4! Can't wait to see the fab fabs :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything wrong with using the same colors as Alyssa--think of it not as "replicating," but as "paying homage to" her lovely selection. :) Besides, I think that even if you go with the same palette as her, there is lots of room for individuality, in where you place certain colors or how you arrange some of the blocks.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing this BOM as well--excited to see what you settle on!
Oh, and why I think it's ok if you pay homage to her colors? At the end of the day, it's your quilt! Don't do something you don't love simply because you think it's more "original." None of us patented the rainbow anyway. ;)

ReplyDeletehey, i'm kind of doing that skill builder too. i haven't even thought about anything regarding colors yet, i should get on that! i really like your third palette.
ReplyDeleteI think 2, it's a beautiful pallette. I'm doing this BOM too, and it is fab, every set of blocks are different even with the same core colour choices, you will give it your own individual style! : )
ReplyDeleteI originally liked 2 but now I think 4 as the colours are a bit more vibrant. Must check out that BOM.
